Summer Session Over! August 5, 2005

Posted by danucube in Nursing, Prenursing.

It is all over yesterday!!!!!!

I did not blank out on my chemistry final (I blanked out on my last lecture quizz)! The teacher is another fast grader. I got my grade today and I got an A! Low A basically, got 91% out of 100%.

The teacher spend the last two days reviewing the upcomming finals with us. He made it into a question and answer game for the class as we were divided into two teams. The team who wins will get 10 extra points (about 7% of the final which is a lot). Toward the end of the two days, the team I was on won. The team who lost were very close, like 4 points or so from our score. Since the score were so close, he gave the extra 10 points to the whole class. Real nice guy and everyone is happy.

The two days review really helped me as it identified which area I needed to focus on in preparing for the exam. He also allows cheat sheet which helped. Turned out I did not really use the cheat sheet that much.

The chem class is mostly inorganic. But toward the end, we’ve gone into nuclear chemistry (a little bit) and a good intro to organic chemistry. I think I like organic chemistry better as it seemed more interesting to me. I don’t like inorganic as much, probably because I don’t really like math and formulas. With organic chemistry, it is sort of looking at patterns in a Go game (a Chinese/Japanese chess like game with just stones).

Now I am ready to take organic chemistry next quarter. Hopeing for a good teacher again.

For Cross Cultural Anthro, we have a slower grader. I turned in everything. The final we have a week to do. It involve 10 multiple choice questions and 4 essay questions. I think I should get at least a B, maybe an A if I do well enough in the final. We’ll have to see.

I do like the Cross Cultural Anthropology class a lot. Just wished I have taken it during reqular quarter instead of summer, so I have more time. I can see lots of the stuff I learn in this class can be apply to nursing at least indirectly. Found out there is a field call medical anthropology. I am getting some reading material on it and start reading them. I think this area can have some good application in nursing.
